**Our MA Photography with Integrated International Pre-Masters is a year-long preparatory course of study to ready you for your Master’s in the UK, developing your English speaking and writing together with your specialist skills, research acumen and confidence in working autonomously.**
Enhance your skills, broaden your scope and refine your style as a photographer on our MA Photography degree course at UCA Canterbury.
This course will encourage you to be bold, both in your work and the way in which you display it. You will be encouraged to speculate, experiment and add complexity to your projects, using our extensive facilities to help you realise your ideas.
We also focus on the dissemination, exhibition and publication of photographic work, as well as covering critical theory and reading and writing about the image.
With a balance of support that will develop your practical skills and foster a high standard of diverse critical approaches, you will respond to the diverse field of contemporary photography and explore practices of representation that engage with the still and moving image, as well as performance and installation.
Your studies will be supported by a number of internationally renowned staff in a department that encourages experimentation. This will help you to establish yourself as a rounded professional who can formulate ideas in a sophisticated framework, whilst also communicating impactfully with others, both visually and verbally.
Wherever your career aspirations lie - from fashion to fine art, editorial to curation - we place a strong emphasis on publication, empowering you to find creative ways to disseminate your work beyond the academic context.

**Our MFA Photography with Integrated International Pre-Masters is a year-long preparatory course of study to ready you for your Master’s in the UK, developing your English speaking and writing together with your specialist skills, research acumen and confidence in working autonomously.**
With internationally recognised teaching staff, UCA's two-year MFA Photography course gives you a unique opportunity to become a true expert in the field of photography.
Led by award-winning photographer Anna Fox and supported by an exceptional team - including photographer and video artist Ori Gersht, Professorial Fellow Sunil Gupta, award-winning photographer Karen Knorr and talented sessional staff – you will be given the tools, freedom and time to hone your skills and find your professional niche.
You will be free to discover the joy of photography, explore different methods, materials and theories, and hone your research skills. And, with extensive careers research, you will discover which field of photography you would like to work in, before going on relevant work placements to help you build vital experience and networking opportunities.
A unique feature of this MFA Photography course is the incredible global perspective on offer, thanks to the international nature of its student cohort, staff and industry connections. The course has close ties with renowned institutions around the world, including the National Institute of Design in India, and there are opportunities to study there, and at other institutions throughout Europe and China.
You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with students from around the world, and exhibit work internationally; previous graduates have shown work at photography festivals in China and India.
Our Farnham campus has a distinct and important history within the field of photography and an international reputation. Its many renowned alumni include the late Jane Bown, as well as Paul Seawright, David Moore and Natasha Caruana.
