Summary
Our MA Fine Art course welcome creators from all spheres. Whether you’re an artist, designer, illustrator, architect, theorist or graduate from the broader humanities, you’ll explore your artistic practice, question what it means to be a contemporary artist, and develop your critical skills.
Our skilled lecturers and sessional staff (who are also professional artists, filmmakers, curators and theorists) will challenge the way you think about the world and support you in your personal areas of exploration and research.
You'll learn through seminars, tutorials, guest lectures, workshops, study visits and critiques, with access to a broad range of specialist workshops where you can work with different mediums, supported by expert technical staff.
Our course will enable you to critically evaluate your own work and the work of others, and support you in developing your visual and conceptual thinking as you work on a personal research project.
Students on our Canterbury-based MA have opportunities to exhibit work and test ideas through partnerships with regional arts organisations including Turner Contemporary, Whitstable Biennale, Strange Cargo and the Folkestone Triennial. One of the oldest and most highly respected MA courses in the university, this course invites students to explore their ideas through a range of media.
