Postgraduate study at Leeds Arts University
Founded in 1846 as the Leeds Government School of Art and Design, Leeds Arts University has built an international reputation as one of the UK’s leading creative arts education institutions.
The University offers MA courses in Animation, Creative Practice, Digital Fashion, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration with Graphic Novel and Photography all delivered by expert tutors who are all highly experienced in their creative field.
Whatever subject you choose you can take advantage of great industry links, providing networking and other professional opportunities, including the opportunity to hear from industry speakers.
You’ll have opportunities to attend events and exhibitions related to your specialism, and some courses benefit from a partnership network providing students with a residency at a partner organisation in order to enhance their skills, experience and knowledge for a career in the discipline.
Postgraduate students are based in the postgraduate hub of our Blenheim Walk site, giving you the chance to work in a creative environment alongside students from across the different disciplines.

Our award-winning facilities
The University invests heavily in its facilities. In the Guardian 2020 League Tables we were ranked number five in the country in the Design & Crafts subject table. We also won the Whatuni Student Choice Award for the UK University with the Best Facilities in 2019, and came second in 2020.
Postgraduate students have access to photography studios, Mac suites, printmaking workshops, digital print facilities, and a University gallery.
Our specialist arts library provides access to a comprehensive range of study resources to support postgraduate research, including journal and database subscriptions, specialist collections of artists’ books and access to specialised archived and current TV and radio programmes.
Resources are equipped to industry standards, and are run by highly skilled staff who contribute significantly to teaching. Resources have a drop-in facility so students can carry on working in their own time.
A 800m² extension of their Blenheim Walk building will open in September 2024, providing a roof garden, more studios, informal working spaces and café facilities, and a 24hr student hub.
