Careers and employability
As a top 20 'most targeted university in the UK’ by Times Top 100 Employers, Newcastle prepares students for life after their degree. Students are supported to take the next step in their professional life, grow an independent career or – through the University’s START UP programme – launch a business. Careers Service support continues for up to three years after graduation.

START UP helps current students and recent graduates (up to three years) who want to work either as an independent professional without employees, or start a company with employees.
There are currently 203 START UP-supported businesses trading with a combined annual turnover of £88 million. Between them, they've raised over £44 million in external investment, won national and global awards and created 947 full-time equivalent jobs.
