About the National Film and Television School
First established in 1971, the National Film and Television School (NFTS) has evolved to become a leading global institution, developing some of Britain and the world’s top creative talent. In 2018, the NFTS was awarded both the BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema and the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education.
As one of the leading film schools in the world, the NFTS operates like a major studio, with state-of-the-art production facilities that are essential for creating outstanding content for film, TV, games, animation, design, and much more. All courses are designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to make an impact in the film, television and games industries as soon as they graduate.
With a graduate employment rate of over 90%, the NFTS runs more behind-the-camera courses than any other film school in the world, as well as numerous short courses. Locations
The main NFTS campus is based in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. The School also has regional hubs operating in Glasgow, Leeds and Cardiff.

NFTS graduates go on to become key creative leaders for much of the UK’s largest and most high profile film and television content.
Graduates have gone on to win 14 Oscars and over 160 BAFTAs, with alumni including cinematographer Sir Roger Deakins (Empire of Light, 1917), Noughts & Crosses writer Malorie Blackman OBE, Laurie Nunn, creator of Netflix’s Sex Education, BAFTA-winning 1917 and The Good Nurse writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns, acclaimed writer/director Joanna Hogg (The Souvenir), BAFTA-winning director David Yates best known for his work on the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts franchises, animator Nick Park, creator of the beloved Wallace And Gromit characters, director Yann Demage (Top Boy, Lovecraft Country), renowned arthouse filmmaker Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here), award winning director Alrick Riley (Bridgerton, Stephen) and composers Nainita Desai (The Reason I Jump, For Sama) and Natalie Holt, the first female composer in the Star Wars universe.
