Swansea University Mahmoud Melhas is embarking on his postgraduate program – an MSc in Computer Science – at the age of 56, having spent the last 25 years working in the public sector for his local council. He has opted to study his master’s course at Swansea University .

Speaking about winning the Postgrad Solutions IT/Computer Science Bursary, Mahmoud says, “It is such a great feeling to win at the start of the race with a great sense of pride and joy but also with a sense of responsibility to do well in my chosen path.”

Swansea University was the perfect choice for Mahmoud because it offered the exact course he was looking for. He enthuses, “To study the MSc in Computer Science at Swansea University at the ripe age of 56 is wonderful and exciting as I have found out in the last few weeks of starting the course. I have also found out how easy is to integrate into student life after working for the last 25 years.”
