Degree Courses with the Lowest Unemployment Rates

Most people enter university as a stepping stone to a more successful career  So what degree courses are leading graduates straight into employment?

The list below details the employment rates for university leavers six months after graduating.

The results were gathered by the Higher Education Statistics Agency during a study conducted in 2007. Although the data is not brand new the information is expected to have remained relatively constant in the period, as the same research was conducted during an earlier study completed in 2002 and the results found were very similar.

What Does it Tell Us?

If you are currently enrolled onto one of these courses the chances of you finding employment at the end of your course are extremely good! Data analysts have ascertained that the reason these degree courses result in such low unemployment rates is that they are clearly defined career paths that are related to essential job functions.

Despite the country’s financial situation or employment levels, these jobs are always required in the same high numbers. Other reasons given for these exceptionally low unemployment levels are that many of these university courses require students to enrol with work placements during their study, and this alone often leads onto an offer of full time employment.

The modern languages subjects have fared well due to the fact that job applicants applying for a whole range of positions are given priority over those without this qualification as these days it is very beneficial for companies to have multilingual workers in their company. This was backed up by a survey of employers that was completed at the same time, where a large majority of them specifically stated that a modern language qualification was a very attractive asset to a CV.
