Poey Lee studied an MSc in International Management at Royal Holloway.
I am going back to Hong Kong to work as a Management Trainee in IBM. I am both excited at this new chapter in my life and also missing Royal Holloway University of London and my fellow students.
I had an amazing experience studying my degree at the School of Management at Royal Holloway – my only worry was not having enough time to engage all the university activities! I joined Community Action and became an International Volunteering Team Leader. These both allowed me to understand how the college and wider community work together, and enabled me to build connections with other students around the campus. I also became a Course Representative which helped me enhance my leadership and communication skills.
The academic knowledge I obtained while studying my MSc in International Management was of paramount importance to me. I learned all the different aspects of management and our lecturers were extremely focused on helping us apply this knowledge to real business. We had different workshops which helped me to think more critically and provided us with an opportunity to discuss real business case studies and apply management theories to them. The discussions were fascinating and I felt like each day I gained more in depth knowledge and a stronger business insight.
I am lucky to have met a lot of friends here and am pleased I joined so many activities. I know what I have gained will be a great asset to me for the rest of my life. My masters degree definitely helped me get my job – it is a great way to stand out to your employer.

I chose the University of Glasgow because it blends tradition with innovation in a stunning and inviting setting and because of the recent performance of the Adam Smith Business School in academic rankings.
Do you have any advice for students considering studying at Glasgow?
If you are from a Non-UK country, prepare yourself for a rather practical and self-directed approach to learning and make sure you take in all aspects of the truly unique and beautiful Scottish culture.
