Fine art research areas: Book illustration; drawing; painting; photography; printmaking.
We offer a stimulating environment for postgraduate study and research in both fine art and art history. We are committed to art as an intellectual pursuit and a professional discipline; one which requires training, skill and practice as well as individual creativity. Students are chosen for their appropriateness to the professional and research interest of staff, and much of the tuition is by means of regular individual tutorials. Students are assigned to a supervisor and a particular area of study in Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Book Illustration, Photography or Art History.

This course will push you to develop your skills in your chosen medium, whether that is Illustration, drawing, painting, photography or printmaking. You will become more confident as a creative practitioner of contemporary art as you explore your own styles and imaginative boundaries. The Masters in Fine Art features a highly practical repertoire of modules which will encourage you to direct your studies into areas of art which particularly fascinate you. This course is highly practical, not only in the hands-on approach to Art itself, but also in studying the necessary practicalities of exhibition preparation, installation and evaluation.

Entry requirements | The entry qualification for all Masters courses is a BA (Honours) Class I or IIi or equivalent. Those who are not graduates must satisfy the University that they are of the required academic standard to pursue postgraduate study. Candidates should include a selection of 12 pieces of recent work presented as slides and/or digital form together with a Research Proposal, that is a statement of interest and intent, such as subject matter, processes, techniques etc. |
