Many of our courses are accredited by professional bodies and give you the opportunity to engage with industry experts. You will be taught by lecturers working as professionals in their field of expertise, including many who conduct world-leading research and have received prestigious awards. Many of our postgraduate courses offer a work placement, allowing you to gain essential experience relevant to your studies.

Career-focused learning

Work Placement Scheme
At Kingston, we offer the opportunity to undertake a placement while studying for a postgraduate degree.
Many of our courses offer an optional year integrated work placement programme, which will help you provides valuable, practical industry experience and provide you with the opportunity to link your studies to real- life situations in the workplace.
Our work placement scheme is designed specifically to give you an advantage in the graduate job market.
Students who successfully complete a placement will:
- gain insight into a particular industry or role
- decide if the career path is the right one for them
- take on real responsibilities and increase their confidence
- develop transferable skills and enhance their employability
- network and establish valuable references and contacts
Our staff will support you while you search for your work placement and ensure your placement meets the requirements for your course and future career goals.
We will support you in building your network, helping you to discover relevant opportunities and introducing you to potential employers across multiple industries in the UK.
Our support team will be available throughout the application process, providing specialist training workshops to introduce you to placement opportunities, develop your CV and prepare you for interviews to help you secure your placement.
Facilities
Across all our campuses, you will find everything you need to succeed in your studies. Our incredible, world-class learning facilities include dedicated postgraduate study centres, virtual learning tools, 24/7 online learning support, libraries and quiet and group study spaces, which will help take your education to the next level.
We are investing £118.7 million in our campuses to create the perfect study environment for you, including our landmark Town House building and our major renovation project at Kingston School of Art.
Our RIBA award-winning building, Town House, located at our Penrhyn Road campus opened in January 2020 and provides outstanding study facilities for students, including a library with over 1,000 study spaces, flexible learning areas, a covered courtyard, cafes, dance studios and roof top gardens.
Our major refurbishment at Kingston School of Art’s Knights Park campus has been designed to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and deliver much improved workshop and studio space while enhancing the environmental performance of the building.
The transformed Mill Street Building offers two floors of industry-leading workshop spaces, including new double height space for architecture students to be able to create larger scale project. There are also four floors of modern professional-grade studio spaces and a rooftop balcony area so you can take in some fresh air or gaze into the horizon when searching for inspiration.
Whether it's Kingston Hill's woodland trail or the riverside at Knights Park, each of our campuses offer something special. Linked together by our free intersite bus service, they feature all the amenities that make day-to-day life just that little bit easier are at your fingertips – from bars, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops to laundrettes, contemporary and spacious social spaces and even an on-site gym.

The University is located across four teaching campuses throughout Kingston upon Thames, each with its own unique look and feel.
Kingston University is ideally situated where leafy Surrey meets the hustle and bustle of London. Located in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, it offers the perfect combination of modern city living with a relaxed small-town feel.

Sports and societies
There is so much to get involved at Kingston University, whether you want to pursue a passion or try something new. There are also over 30 different sports clubs, including all the usual favourites, from football and hockey to cheerleading and snow sports.
