Postgrad Solutions UK Postgraduate Study Bursary - Engineering

Uzair Saleem, MSc Electronics Engineering, University of Portsmouth

24-year-old Uzair Saleem has come to England from Pakistan to study an MSc in Electrical Engineering at the University of Portsmouth. He says, “I would like to thank Postgrad Solutions for the bursary award, and for understanding the needs of students studying abroad.”

Portsmouth Uzair is delighted to have won a Postgrad Solutions Study Bursary because it will allow him to concentrate more on his studies without worrying as much about his finances, he says, “Winning the bursary is quite overwhelming right now, especially the fact that I have been selected out of many applicants. I was quite excited to hear about the bursary award and the prospect of having an external support in your studies, no matter how much it is, is satisfying and exciting simultaneously.”

Uzair finds Postgrad.com to be a very useful website, he explains, “Postgrad.com has a lot of information about different universities. They keep sending me different emails about scholarships and programs offered in universities across UK. They also give information regarding to different events being taken place in different universities. I would also encourage other people to join websites, communities like yours.”

Uzair chose to study at the University of Portsmouth because of the great range of MSc degrees available, and was particularly keen on its MSc in Electronics Engineering because of the various subjects that it covers. In his first few weeks on the programme Uzair has met a wide range of people and visited the relevant labs and other facilities. He says,  “The labs are outstanding and so are the instructors. I have learned a lot of new things so far.”

He decided to come to England to study because of the high standards education, he says, “I like the standard and the methods of teaching in UK. I have taken inspiration from my teachers back in Pakistan, how successful and well-educated they were. I came to UK with a belief of becoming a successful researcher just like them.”
